What is PBIS?

School-wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports.  The term refers to a framework of behavioral interventions and systems used to achieve important behavior changes.

Mission Statement

The mission of PBIS is to foster and create a safe and positive school environment that enhances student learning through teaching and recognizing positive behavior.

Key Components

Clearly specified OUTCOMES that are related to behavior and student achievement.
SYSTEMS that support staff buy-in and sustained use of effective practices.
DATA gathered by the school to make decisions about improving behavior and learning.
Evidenced-based PRACTICES & INTERVENTIONS that are effective for staff and students.

Core Values

PBIS stands for positive behavioral interventions and supports.  There are three main components of PBIS.  they are teaching appropriate behavior in all settings, providing interventions when behavior expectations are not met, and recognizing students when behavior expectations are met.  Core values of HWMS are Trust, Integrity, Genuineness, Empathy, Respect, and Success.
